About the Project
OSRA is a forthcoming solution for risk management across all Alphabet enterprises worldwide. The client required a proof of concept within an extremely tight one-month deadline to validate the approach before committing to full-scale development.
The Challenge
Create a proof of concept in the shortest possible time with no initially described requirements. The deadline was one month from project kickoff to stakeholder presentation.
My Role
Lead Designer overseeing all design work from concept to delivery. Responsible for recruiting and organizing the design team, presenting to stakeholders, and ensuring seamless collaboration across all disciplines under extreme time pressure.
Process
Pre-Discovery & Guidelines Analysis
Conducted rapid pre-discovery phase analyzing existing risk management solutions and studying Google's Material Design guidelines and internal UI standards. This accelerated the design process by establishing a solid foundation from day one.
User Meetings & Requirements Clarification
Organized intensive user meetings with Google representatives to rapidly clarify requirements that were initially undefined. Conducted focused interviews to understand risk management workflows, user roles, and critical pain points across Alphabet's diverse enterprise landscape.
Roadmap & Rapid Prototyping
Created a focused roadmap that maximized value delivery within the one-month constraint. Developed rapid prototypes adhering to Google UI guidelines, iterating through multiple design rounds with stakeholder feedback at each stage.
Testing & Validation
Conducted multiple testing rounds with Google representatives to validate the prototype against real-world risk management scenarios. Each round informed refinements that progressively aligned the solution with user expectations and business requirements.
Results
Transformed a complex UX tool request into a streamlined scenario logic that was easy to understand and navigate. Proved that both desktop and mobile solutions were viable within the proposed architecture. The prototype aligned with user expectations and was approved by stakeholders, laying the foundation for the next product development phase.
Key Learnings
Gained invaluable experience working with a large vendor under extremely tight time constraints. Learned the importance of identifying potential issues early in the process and establishing clear communication channels from day one. The project reinforced that rapid delivery does not have to compromise design quality when processes are well-organized.
